There’s something about New York City that just does it for us. The movement, the history, the way old architecture sits next to glowing marquees and quiet corners you almost miss if you’re not paying attention. This weekend reminded us exactly why New York City feels romantic in a way that no other place really can!!
A Slow Start in Jersey Before the City
We flew into Philly on Thursday and stayed with friends in Jersey which already made the trip feel relaxed and fun from the start. Friday morning we stopped at the German Butcher in Forked River, NJ and I have to say it, that Cuban sandwich was one of the best things I ate all weekend. So simple, so good, zero notes. From there we hopped on the bus from Toms River straight into NYC and checked into the Hilton right off Times Square! The location alone made the trip!!! We could literally see Times Square from our room, plus the Lyric Theatre right across from us! It felt surreal in the best way!

Broadway Nights and City Lights
Friday night was Broadway night! We grabbed coffee at Corvo Coffee and headed to see The Cursed Child with second row seats! Truly so close it felt illegal!! The show was incredible and seeing Tom Felton live was unreal, and honestly I’ll be thinking about that play for a long time! I am still so obsessed and not over it at all! Walking back through the city after a show like that, lights everywhere, people buzzing, it’s impossible not to feel something!

Wandering the City and Falling a Little More in Love
Saturday, though, was all about wandering! We grabbed coffee at Le Parisien Bakery which was fine, a little overpriced, and not super memorable food wise, but still a cute stop! Then we spent the day walking the theater district, popping into iconic spots like Macy’s, grabbing a street hot dog, visiting the Harry Potter store, and stopping by The Friends Experience where yes, I absolutely got coffee at Central Perk. One of my favorite stops of the day was St. Patrick’s Cathedral!!! It is stunning in person and instantly made me think about how magical it would be for a wedding ceremony! The light, the scale, the quiet in the middle of the city. This is exactly why New York City feels romantic!

Why New York City Feels Romantic
We also stopped by 620 Loft and Garden and I cannot stop thinking about it! A rooftop garden tucked into the city with skyline views everywhere you turn. It’s intimate, elevated, and feels like a secret. If you’re dreaming about New York City weddings, this venue is such a gem! We walked past the New York Public Library next and the architecture alone took my breath away! This would be such an incredible spot for engagement photos or bridal portraits, especially if you love classic, editorial vibes mixed with real city energy!!

But, What’s for Dinner
We ended the day at the Marquis Theatre grabbing some Stranger Things merch and then dinner at Junior’s. Chicken Alfredo was a full 10 out of 10 and the cheesecake deserves its own moment! The crust was like angel food cake and it was unreal. Hands down one of the best desserts of the trip. Somewhere in the middle of all this, I also did headshots for my brother who just wrote a children’s book called Unbroken and needed photos for his next release! Getting to do that in New York City, especially at the library, felt really special!!

Heading Home Already Wanting to Come Back
Sunday we took the bus back to Toms River and headed home, but one last thing that’s worth mentioning if you’re planning a trip or even a wedding weekend here. Staying near Times Square was such a win. We could easily stop back at the hotel whenever we needed, and we were right next to the bus station. After checking out, we left our bags at the hotel, explored a bit more, then grabbed them on our way to the bus. Easy, stress free, and honestly ideal!!!
This weekend just reinforced why New York City feels romantic! The architecture, the history, the way love stories feel woven into every block!! From grand cathedrals to rooftop gardens to quiet moments between the chaos, it’s a city that holds so much emotion! If you’re dreaming about New York City weddings or planning an engagement session here, this place has a way of making everything feel cinematic and meaningful. We already can’t wait to come back!!
